Your vehicle does a lot to get you around, so why not give back to it this holiday season?
Here at CarHop, we care about you and your family. That’s why we want to give you a few tips and tricks to keep your vehicle in its best condition this holiday season. Give back to your vehicle by following these 5 tips for proper car maintenance this holiday season.
Gift #1: New Tires
Not sure how old your tires are? Never changed them? Now might be a good time for new ones! It is always a good idea to check on the health of your tires, especially in the colder months.
Depending on the weather conditions where you live, you may also benefit from swapping out your all season tires for snow tires. We have a few tips and tricks for you about your tires here.
Gift #2: Oil Change
Another important part of regular vehicle maintenance is getting an oil change. Changing your oil consistently ensures the health of your engine and keeps you driving smoothly. The average number of miles vehicles need an oil change is 3,000, but check your owner’s manual to be sure when your make and model needs it.
We have plenty of tips available for you on how to check and change the oil in your car to keep things as simple as possible! Have a look at our top tips and tricks here.
Gift #3: Headlight Restoration
One important and often overlooked way you can care for your vehicle is by restoring your headlights. Over time, headlights can get foggy, causing dimmer lights and less-than-safe driving conditions for you.
Invest some time and elbow grease in getting your headlights back into tip-top shape. Wipes are available for less than $20 from major retailers, but you can also do it yourself with toothpaste. Follow these easy steps to clean and restore your headlights to optimal condition.
- Clean headlights with soapy water and a cloth, then allow them to dry
- Dampen microfiber cloth and add a dot of toothpaste
- Rub the cloth in small circles all over the headlight, adding more water and toothpaste as needed
- Continue until headlights are clean, about 5-10 minutes
- Rinse with water and let headlights dry

- Jumper Cables
- Flashlights
- Duct-Tape
- Washrags
- Not-perishable snacks & water
- First aid kit
- Extra blankets or warm clothes
