How to Save on Gas and Get the Most Out of Your Tank

March 2nd, 2023 by

Gas prices can be tough, we get it! Part of owning a vehicle is having to frequently stop at the gas station to fill up your tank. During the winter standing out there can be especially dreadful. What if we told you there were ways to help you get the most out of your car’s fuel efficiency?

Read along to find out tips on how to save money on gas.

Check Your Car

The First Step is to Check Your Ride

  • You can start by checking to see if your tire pressure is low. Believe it or not, gas mileage is affected when tires are running low. Find the correct tire pressure needed on the inside of the drivers’ door or in your car’s manual.  You will especially want to do this when it starts to get cold out.

The Next Step is to Replace a Faulty Oxygen Sensor

  • A faulty oxygen sensor can dramatically lower your fuel efficiency. The sensor works to deliver the right amount of fuel to your engine. Replacing it can improve your fuel economy of up to 40%! Regular maintenance is necessary for your vehicle’s needs.

Be Mindful

You might not realize how being mindful about your driving can lead you to saving money. While you can’t control gas prices, here are a few things you can control-

Be Mindful of Your Driving

  • Coast as much as you can, and accelerate only when you need to. Speeding up and stopping causes more gas to be used. Take an extra second off your gas pedal, and let it relax. Sometimes doing less is more!

Be Mindful of What’s in Your Car

  • Clean out anything that doesn’t need to be in your car. The more weight in your car, the harder it has to work to transport you. By removing any unnecessary baggage, your car will have to work less to get to your destination.

Trade Up

Maybe it’s time to trade up your current car into one that’s more fuel efficient. You can find a selection of cars that will have you taking less trips to the gas station. CarHop will help get you driving in a vehicle that’s just right for you.

You may be asking yourself if we take trade-ins… here at Carhop, we are happy to!
